Vintage Vera....
So, I have been collecting Vera scarves for about 4 years. I have about 300 of them! I need to do a formal count.
Anyway, I just found The Vera Company on the web. The incredible Mrs. Vera Neumann passed away in the early nineties and this company took over. I am excited to see what else they come up with. The website isn't very informative. I wish that they would let the reader know their future plans and intentions for the Vera name......
Hey does anyone have any ideas on how to store my scarves??? I have some very old ones. Some that are pre-patent and patent pending. So I keep all of them folded in little zip-lock baggies. The baggies are then shoved in my closet. I guess that I could hunt for an armoire of some type at the thrift but really don't have room..... I do plan to photograph all of my scarves and organize them on flickr.... one of these days.

You might want to store them folded with acid free tissue paper and in an acid free box. That's how costume shops and museums often store their fabrics. Keep them out of the light as much as you can, other than wearing them. Make sure they are clean before you store them, that way bugs won't get to them. Every year you'll want to get them out and re-fold them a different way so that the folds don't set in. If they aren't refolded, the fold is where the fabric will disintegrate first. Hope this helps!
Oh my goodness. Thanks so much. I have not refolded barely at all. I will certainly do that.
Wonderful advice!
