Thank You Thursday: The Broken Plate and Jezze

This past Christmas, I ordered a beautiful Jezze mug for my dear friend, Ursula.  It was sitting so pretty in Ursula's favorites so I snatched it up and was exited to give it as a gift! I couldn't wait to see Jesse's beautiful work in person.  So, I placed the order and waited for the mug to arrive.  Unfortunately, along the way from South Africa, the mug was broken.  This was a one of a kind and I was devastated.

I remember looking at the poor mug and admiring Jesse's designs.  As luck would have it, the break occurred just on the handle so the designs were still intact.  I then thought of  The Broken Plate.  The Broken Plate offers exquisite jewelry made from recycled plates.  The shop is amazing.  Here is a bit about the process...

Each plate is carefully selected from various thrift stores, antique shops, and department stores, and then lovingly broken, using a hammer and tile snips. Pieces are selected by color, design and shape, ground to create smooth edges, and wrapped in copper tape and lead-free silver solder using the Louis Comfort Tiffany stained glass method. The solder is patinaed to give each piece a bold, rustic black border.  The Broken Plate

So, I contacted The Broken Plate and sent the mug.  No time passed and the mug was turned into these!

Can you believe it?  Fabulous, right?

This is why I am thankful.  I am grateful to Etsy for these connections.  Through this little accident, a whole new light has been shed.  Ursula gets her favorite mug as a gorgeous pendant.  I bought one for myself and Jesse.  Also, Jesse has contacted me to let me know that The Broken Plate is selling the rest with part of the proceeds going to a South African Charity for feeding school children (Peninsula School Feeding Association)!

Incredible!  This is what happens when you buy handmade.

Below are just a couple of pendants for sale.

Thank You Thursday: Cosa Verde

This Thursday, I would like to thank Cosa Verde.  Cosa Verde is a brand spankin new online market place.  What makes it so very special is its focus on all things eco-friendly.

Cosa Verde connects  eco-friendly artists with smart consumers.  The entire site is beautifully laid out and actually a lot of fun to navigate.  I especially love the unique ways to search.  The "browse better" category allows any eco savy buyer to locate items that are organic, recyclable, cruelty free, etc.

Personally, I really connected with this site and its overall feel.  I have to share a little selection about the two founders, Liz and Jeff.

Cosa Verde, about us...

We created cosa verde to help those small changes along. We wanted to make it easy to find great green goods for your neo-hippie niece, your grandpa who doesn't believe in global-warming, and everyone in-between. So that maybe, when we remember to value the products we buy for how they're manufactured, as well as for their style or uniqueness, some bigger changes will happen in the way that we think about consuming. And we said we weren't preachy.  Cosa Verde

Here are just a couple of the things that you will find on the site.

A big thank you to Liz and Jeff for their wonderful support.  I wish you much success!

Thank You Thursday: Trampoline

Tee Shirt by Damien Correll

For this week, I want to thank the wonderful Kim from the Etsy shop Trampoline.  Kim sent a little note by way of an Etsy convo just to say thanks for being an inspiration.  The note was so lovely.   I am so deeply honored.

The tee shirt above, says it perfectly.  Everyone needs to hear something nice especially in our indie community.  We are all doing what we love and when someone comes a long and smiles at our efforts it makes it all worthwhile.

I appreciate that note so very much!  Thank you, Kim.  I wish you much happiness and success in everything that you do!

Get inspired by the Trampoline shop!

Thank You Thursday: Fric_de_mentol

Today, I would like to thank Ana.  What can I say about Ana?  I will tell you that she is my favorite artist on Etsy.  I have the pleasure of owning the sweetest gocco print that she created along with a few of her Moleskins.  The print below hangs near the entry way of my sewing room and her Moleskins find homes in whatever tote I carry for the day.

Ana's work makes me smile.  Here is her profile...

My name is Ana, i'm 30!
I'm an artist, it's what 'they' call me, since i have a fine art degree ! Life is my inspiration, i love simple things as a smile, my dogs or cooking. I use all my senses to live!
I listen to a lot of music and i also watch movies.
Since I'm human i try to equilibrate the pollution i make, so i recycle, i plant indigenous trees and do other stuff ! I have no car so i ride a bike!

I actually just checked her shop and found that she is celebrating 1 year on Etsy!    I wish her the most success.  Thank you Ana for making me happy :)  You are truly an inspiration.

Thank You Thursday: Cose Dolci

For this Thursday, I would like to thank Alyce from Cose Dolci. Alyce creates brilliant felted treasures! She has bought a couple of Circle the Dates from me and each time has been such a pleasure. Not only is Alyce talented, she is also one of the nicest sellers that I have ever met on Etsy.

Her is a bit of her profile:

I recently returned from having lived in Naples, Italy. There, I was able to study art under a master Italian painter. (Check back for oil paintings.) Living in Italy afforded me the opportunity to travel throughout Europe. There, I found incredible inspiration from the sights and sounds of Rome, London, Paris, and Edinborough. Through painting and traveling, I developed an appreciation for color and design that I have translated into handmade accessories.

Thank you so much, Alyce!

Thank You Thursday: Lucky Me Beads

Quite a while ago, I ordered the most beautiful custom necklace from Lucky Me Beads. It was this one. A custom necklace with Mia's little silhouette! The necklace is just darling and so is the artist behind it. Whitney is an amazing gal and new Mom. Since my order I have followed her work and blog.

Whitney actually wrote to me a couple of months ago informing me that she was going to be featured in Country Living Magazine! She then asked if she could send Mia's silhouette for the photo shoot! Needless to say, I was so happy for her and excited to see the layout. When I received the January issue, I must say that I was knocked off of my feet! Her necklace makes the entire page! It is also so much fun to see Mia right there jumping right off of it!

I just want to thank Whitney for all of her work. I especially thank her for my necklace and this wonderful experience. I wish her the most success with everything!

Visit the Lucky Me Beads shop.

Thank you Thursday: rose la biche

This Thursday, I would like to thank Lucy, the ultra talented designer behind rose la biche.

Lucy actually bought the very first money bag pillow that I made! I was so excited about the pillows and was so thrilled when I saw one of them sold. I was especially happy when I saw who bought it. I had Lucy in my favorites and really admired her style. Lucy explains it best....

"Chic. Refreshing. Unique : this is what Rose La Biche is about.

The collection focuses on nature-inspired designs with a urban vibe.
Feminine shapes meet sober colors for a sophisticated yet low-key look."
rose la bishe shop

Her line is absolutely amazing. I agree that it is very unique in the way that she is able to capture an urban feel and combine it with femininity! Lucy is an artist. Her pieces transmit her talent! Just take a look at this hoodie.....

Speechless? wait, there is more :)

Check out the rest of rose la biche. You will be amazed!

Thank you Thursday: Eco Etsy

This one is a little different today. I want to thank the eco etsy team for allowing me to be a part of a global group of folks who are dedicated to making the world a better place. Here is a bit the team as a whole....

"Eco Etsy is a group of like minded people who are coming together to spread the word about reducing, reusing and recycling. We concentrate on educating other Etsyians to be more aware of the waste we create when packaging our items and therefore offer tips and tricks to help other members create a greener way of life in their shops and in their personal lives." Eco Etsy Website

Visit the Eco Etsy blog. This little gem is full of eco friendly tips, green showcases, and fashion forward style.

I have said this before but really want to say it again, especially when it comes to this group.....

Etsy is extremely inspirational - not only in the creations it offers, but in the community it offers as well. I am so thankful to have the pleasure of participating in this group. I learn something new every single day. That is truly priceless!

All you have to do to find the team on etsy is type "teamecoetsy" in the search tab. You will not believe the talent under that little heading!

Here are just a couple of things that you will find....

Thank You Thursday: Sugar Photography

For this installment, I would like to thank Jennifer and her sweet baby gal, Colette. I adore that name :)

Jennifer is the severely talented photographer behind Sugar Photography. Her site is a must see!

A little about Jen...

"Jen, founder and chief photographer, has a love and appreciation for the emotions that photography can evoke, and strives to capture that in her work. She loves nothing more than to look at a picture and gasp…at the tiny feet of a newborn, the unflinching gaze of a toddler, or the playful smile of a child." Sugar Photography website

I also read that a session with Jen is laid back and playful. I totally believe that. Her photos are honest, fun, and truly the work of an amazing artist!

Jen received my circle the date onesie as a gift from fellow photographer Ann Beck. Jen took photos of her beautiful baby girl sporting the little date. I must say that all I could do was gasp at the little gal as soon as she popped up on my screen. So adorable! It is so wonderful to see these little onesies placed on such sweetness!

Thank you so much, Jennifer! I wish you so much success!

She recently ordered another and sent the most adorable photos! She informed me that this little one was showing off the onesie in a birth announcement! How cute is this?
You must check out Ann's site. She is an extremely gifted photographer. I wish that I lived near her to schedule a shoot with my family! Her style is so pure and personal. You can certainly tell that she finds enjoyment in her work! I find that her photos also relay a true passion for family.

Thanks Ann!

Thank You Thursday: FP goodness!

So, I decided to change this Thursday's installment. Reason is because I had the pleasure of landing on Etsy's Front page today. This was a special day because Chakra Pennywhistle was on twice!

If you are not familiar with Etsy's front page, here is a quick summary. Etsy allows buyers and artists to create treasuries. Treasuries are collections of all sorts. There are so many lovely ones and a ton of talented curators which makes me think that it would be incredibly hard to pick them for the FP (etsy speak for Front Page). If you have always fantasized about being a curator, the Etsy Treasury is your gig. Go and make one..... be careful though because it is SEVERELY ADDICTIVE!

Here is a great link to get to started. It is Etsy's treasury how to.

I must thank the fabulous curators that featured Chakra P.

The first treasury was curated by teamzvonik.

Available in the teamzvonik shop...

The second was curated by fellow teamecoetsy member rikrak.

Available in the rikrak shop.....

10 pm-the Mary Tyler Moore night on the town vintage patch work scarf $28.00
I want to send a big thank you to both of these fabulous folks. They create, inspire, and motivate. Thank you!
