Quilt weather!

It is actually quite chilly in Tucson. I broke out my quilted jackets. I have 3 and am thinking of collecting a couple more. Mine were bought from local thrifts years ago. The prices could not have reached more than 5 dollars a piece. Such a low price for a fitted quilt that blocks the dry desert wind like no tomorrow! Plus, they are just down right cute! Definitely a little hippie/folksy :) I found a couple on Etsy.... I also found a pattern to make your own! Problem is, one would need the pre-quilted fabric which I have seen before and have not been a fan of the designs.... who knows? I think that it is worth a little research :)

My thrift find....

Vintage Danish Modern Dining Set for 6. Made of solid teak wood.

My Grandmother actually bought this for Dave and I. It is our 7 year anniversary gift. So, it has one flaw.... one chair is missing a leg. For the price, I figured that was minor. I love it! I am now on the hunt for fabric to reupholster the chairs. FUN! Oh, and a random teak leg (hee).

Vintage Vera....

So, I have been collecting Vera scarves for about 4 years. I have about 300 of them! I need to do a formal count.

Anyway, I just found The Vera Company on the web. The incredible Mrs. Vera Neumann passed away in the early nineties and this company took over. I am excited to see what else they come up with. The website isn't very informative. I wish that they would let the reader know their future plans and intentions for the Vera name......

Hey does anyone have any ideas on how to store my scarves??? I have some very old ones. Some that are pre-patent and patent pending. So I keep all of them folded in little zip-lock baggies. The baggies are then shoved in my closet. I guess that I could hunt for an armoire of some type at the thrift but really don't have room..... I do plan to photograph all of my scarves and organize them on flickr.... one of these days.

Vintage Stamp Kit

I bought this vintage stamp kit at a yard sale a couple of years ago. It has been sitting patiently in my closet for quite a while. I spotted it yesterday and decided that I could use it to make business cards. As I was sifting through its contents, I realized that the gocco would be better suited for the cards. The old kit is missing a lot of its lettering. I did find just enough for a label. I had to mix capital and lower case but I think that adds character.
I think that I will use this as a fabric label.

I love this little kit. Totally vintage... I'm drawn to the packaging. It's very crisp and to the point.
